Wealth in Miniature
In this five-minute video, join Courtney Harris, assistant curator of Decorative Arts and Sculpture, Art of Europe, for a tour of a doll’s house modeled after a 17th-century Dutch home. Traditionally created and cared for by women, a Dutch doll’s house featured a combination of objects made domestically, like silver miniatures, and imported goods like porcelain, reflecting Dutch society at the time on a small scale.
The Center for Netherlandish Art propels the engagement with the MFA’s world-class collection of Netherlandish Art. This video is part of the presentation in the MFA’s Dutch & Flemish galleries.
