Nicolas Poussin: The painter's painter | National Gallery
Often referred to as the ‘painter’s painter’ due to his influence on artists through the decades, Nicolas Poussin is well represented in the National Gallery Collection.
However, we were missing a key aspect of his oeuvre: his famous 'Seven Sacraments'. In celebration of our Bicentenary this year, we acquired Eucharist from this series. It is one of the greatest paintings of the Last Supper.
Join National Gallery curator Francesca Whitlum-Cooper and Head of Conservation, Larry Keith, in the conservation studio, to see this newly acquired, later work alongside an earlier Poussin, Cephalus and Aurora.
