How to Hide Folders in Windows 10/11: Step-by-Step | Master Folder Hiding Keep Your Files Private!
In this video, you will learn how to hide folders in Windows 10/11.
We will cover two methods for hiding folders:
Using the Attributes tab in Folder Properties
Using the Advanced Security settings
We will also show you how to unhide folders that you have hidden using these methods.
Here are some of the benefits of hiding folders:
Keep your files private. Hidden folders are not visible in Windows Explorer or File Explorer.
Protect your files from accidental deletion or modification.
Organize your files. You can use hidden folders to store files that you don't need to access on a regular basis.
Here are some of the things you will need to know before you get started:
You must have administrator rights on your computer to hide folders.
This tutorial is for Windows 10/11.
Here are the steps to hide a folder using the Attributes tab in Folder Properties:
Right-click on the folder you want to hide and select Properties.
Click on the Attributes tab.
Select the Hidden attribute checkbox.
Click on OK.
The folder will now be hidden. It will not be visible in Windows Explorer or File Explorer.
Here are the steps to hide a folder using the Advanced Security settings:
Right-click on the folder you want to hide and select Properties.
Click on the Security tab.
Click on the Advanced button.
Click on the Owner tab.
Click on Edit.
Enter your username and password.
Click on OK.
Click on the Permissions tab.
Click on Add.
Enter "Everyone" in the Enter the object name to select field.
Click on OK.
Select "Everyone" in the group or user name list.
Uncheck the Allow permissions for folders, subfolders, and files checkboxes.
Click on OK.
Click on OK again.
The folder will now be hidden. It will not be visible in Windows Explorer or File Explorer.
To unhide a folder that you have hidden using the Attributes tab in Folder Properties, simply follow the steps above and uncheck the Hidden attribute checkbox.
To unhide a folder that you have hidden using the Advanced Security settings, follow the steps above to add "Everyone" to the group or user name list and then check the Allow permissions for folders, subfolders, and files checkboxes.
