The Iraq War in 2003 quickly led to the capture of Saddam Hussein and the removal of his government. But the conflict still lasted for nine grueling years, thanks in part to the lack of a clear post-war plan. Clearly the invasion force had never heard the phrase, "If you break it, you bought it." And in this case, the price was staggering.
