AI Leaders of Tomorrow: Carlin Foka Takamgno
Meet Carlin, a graduate of the ‘AI for Science’ Master’s program, who is using machine learning to tackle understudied diseases like Dengue fever and Zika, with a focus on improving disease tracking across Africa. Carlin’s research is made possible by the Google DeepMind Scholarship, which helps talented students from underrepresented groups access opportunities in AI.
At Google DeepMind, we believe that increasing diversity in AI means breaking down barriers to education and ensuring equitable access to training. Our efforts support the entire AI talent pipeline, from undergraduate students to postgraduates and early-career postdocs, with a global and inclusive approach.
We are empowering the next generation of AI leaders, partnering with 26 universities across 13 countries. Our commitment to advancing AI education includes a $4.5M grant to launch the AI for Science Master’s program at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), building AI research talent across Africa.
