Nathan’s Famous, which opened as a five-cent hot dog stand in Coney Island, New York, more than a century ago has a new owner: Smithfield Foods. The company purchased Nathan’s Famous for $450 million in an all-cash deal. While Smithfield Foods has held the rights to produce and sell Nathan’s products in the U.S. since 2014, it will now acquire all of Nathan’s outstanding shares.
