Ultra Mobile Robot Bike that Jumps
RAI Institute Unveils Ultra Mobile Vehicle (UMV) Designed to Perform Stunts, like Bunny Hops, this robot can do all its driving, landing, balancing and stances using reinforcement learning.
Reinforcement learning (RL) plays a key role by enabling the UMV to learn and refine its balancing skills through trial and error. The system processes sensory inputs to make continuous adjustments to its steering and weight distribution.
This approach allows it to handle complex maneuvers, such as driving, turning, jumping, and performing a track-stand (a sudden stop while remaining balanced), even on uneven terrain.
The RL framework essentially trains the UMV to respond to environmental changes and maintain equilibrium without needing pre-programmed instructions for every scenario, making it highly adaptable and agile.
Thanks for watching.
