Abandoned Dream Home Flip, Officially Under Construction. Lot 32 Ep 02
The clean up of this property was a mess that I have been dreading for a year now, but with that out of the way, I am ready to start building. Going into this build, I am starting with a good shell, and not much needs to be added to it. Some structural improvements of course, but otherwise I will be conforming my ideas into the space that is available. The only addition so far is a utility room that can house the "brains" of the house. This is where I will be storing the 2000 litres of water, the battery/charging system, and the propane. I build as heavy as I could because of the weight, but being my first proper build, it was a bit of a long process. Between filming, researching , building and supplies running, the one room took me four days, but I really enjoyed it. In fact, this is the moment I began to really enjoy this project. It feels good to be fully committed to new endeavour, and beginning to learn and become confident in it. The room turned out great, and I am very confident it will do its job well.
Mike, with Kos Corp Construction has been a huge help in this project as well. The new roof went on without a hitch, and the problems we encountered along the way were not even problems to Mike, they were just another day at the office. I love watching professionals do what they do best. Challenges that would sidetrack me for hours are overcome without even interrupting workflow, and it is an amazing way to learn. Seeing the window project take shape was much the same experience. As fast as I could hear measurements and cut boards, they were becoming part of the house. Opening up that top floor was high on my priority list for this early part of the build, and putting large openings into a structure where there was once framing, is something that should involve a professional. I am relieved to be moving forward with confidence, knowing my home is sound and strong.
I cant recommend Kos Corp enough, and I can assure you wont be disappointed, so if you're in need of a general contractor, give him a call.

All in all, this build is coming together so nicely. I wish I could slow down a little bit and enjoy it more, but with winter just around the corner, these jobs have to get done asap. And with each completed step, we are one step closer to a home.
