Follow the dramatic events following the sudden death of Alexander the Great at age 32, which left his vast empire without a clear heir, sparking a conflict between his generals, most notably Ptolemy and Perdiccas. After two years, an incredibly lavish funeral carriage set off for Macedonia, but Ptolemy, who intended to claim Egypt for himself, orchestrated a daring heist to intercept the body and divert it to Memphis, effectively neutralizing his rival Perdiccas, who was later assassinated by his own demoralized troops while attempting to pursue Ptolemy into Egypt. The body was eventually moved to a mausoleum in Alexandria, though its final resting place remains one of history's great enduring mysteries.
