Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro issued something of a “stay the course” message Tuesday night, as he acknowledged the work of counting millions of ballots in the country’s most pivotal swing state.
“Counting millions of votes accurately takes time,” Shapiro tweeted. “Every legal, eligible vote will be counted accurately, and the will of the people will be respected.”
The gov is a familiar face to the Keystone State’s election administration, having pushed back on Donald Trump’s efforts to challenge results while serving as attorney general in 2020. Shapiro campaigned on his actions following the 2020 election during his successful gubernatorial run two years later.
