✎ If you’re an entrepreneur, you’ve got to be mentally tough—or the world will break you. I learned that from studying the Spartans and from living it myself. The Spartan mindset is all about strength through purpose. Think about King Leonidas and his 300 warriors holding the line at Thermopylae. They didn’t surrender even when the Persian army surrounded them. They fought to the last breath because they had something bigger than themselves to fight for—their people. That’s what I want for you. Not just toughness for toughness’ sake, but strength that’s fueled by love, mission, and belief.
✎ In 2019, I learned this lesson the hard way. I was on a 23-city tour, spreading belief to entrepreneurs like you, when I broke my neck in two places. The doctors told me to stop. I could barely move, and every step hurt. But I had people counting on me. I had promised to show up. So I finished the tour wearing a neck brace, sitting on stage, looking like Frankenstein’s cousin—but I showed up. That’s what unbreakable looks like. Not cold. Not cruel. Just driven by purpose. My love for the people I serve made me stronger than the pain. That’s the mindset I want you to build—the kind that pushes through, not out of anger, but out of love.
✎ Here’s how you build that strength without losing your heart. Embrace discomfort every day—train your resilience like a muscle. Be kind to yourself when you fail because self-compassion is what helps you bounce back faster. And set boundaries that protect your time and energy so you can serve at your best. You don’t have to be a jerk to be strong. You can lead like Satya Nadella—with empathy and power. You can stand firm with a strong back and a soft front. That’s the balance. When you combine toughness and kindness, you become unbreakable without becoming cold. You become unstoppable. You become the warrior for your dream. Believe.
