Mr. Wu's son was kidnapped in the middle of the night. Most likely, the one-year-old was sold to another family somewhere in China. Ten years later, Mr. Wu is still hoping to find his little boy.
On his bicycle, Mr. Wu travels through China in search of his son. Again and again, on his arduous journey, he meets with indifference. The people he asks about his son's whereabouts are not interested, and the authorities he turns to for help do next to nothing. After ten years of desperate searching, Mr. Wu slowly loses all hope of ever seeing his child again.
