The 2024 Volkswagen Passat is available with a range of powertrains starting with the base mild hybrid 1.5 eTSI petrol motor. That’s electrified. And so is the next generation plug-in hybrid with up to 100 km pure electric range. This works with a 1.5 liter petrol engine, which has 150 or 177 hp, and the total system output is 204 or 272 hp.
The diesel options have between 122 and 193 hp (the most powerful version gets 4MOTION AWD). Diesel engines are not electrified. In the future Volkswagen also promises two power outputs of a 2-liter petrol engine.
At nearly 492 cm in length, the new Passat is almost 14.5 cm longer than its predecessor. The wheelbase has lengthened by 5 cm, but most of the extra length has gone into the front overhang, presumably for pedestrian safety.
