Insane Tesla Optimus Gen 3 Robot, Elon Musk Drops New Updates For Mobility, Features & New Task! When people see Tesla's Optimus moving, the majority often say it walks like Joe Biden, which means it’s still pretty slow and doesn’t really show off its agility. Naturally, no one wants a robot like that. So, over the past few months, speed and the hands of Optimus have been the top priorities for the Tesla team. As Musk put it, those two aspects account for half of the technical work that needs to be done on Optimus. Last year, when Tesla first rolled out the Gen 2 version, Optimus’s speed was confirmed at 0.6 m/s, or about 1.34 mph. Tesla mentioned that this was over a 30% increase from Gen 1, but they also admitted it’s still quite slow.

According to Milan Kovac, the Vice President of Tesla Optimus, he mentioned on X that the team has been pretty busy making its walking capabilities stronger before deciding to bring Optimus to the recent “We Robot” event. While he didn’t reveal the current speed, we’re guessing it’s somewhere around 2 to 2.5 mph.
