Mat’s flown over to the USA for an American car showdown!
He’s got his hands on an all-new Rivian R1T Quad Motor, and he’s going up against a Corvette Z06!
It’s a petrol vs electric head-to-head, but does this colossal all-electric pick-up truck have what it takes to bring down one of the most iconic American sports cars? Let’s take a look at the stats…
Starting with the Rivian, it’s equipped with four electric motors (one for each wheel), and these combine to produce 1,025hp and 1,624Nm of torque! It comes with launch control, but it also comes with a hefty weight, tipping the scales at 3,170kg! New, it costs from $119,000.
Then we come to the Corvette. It’s powered by a 5.5-litre naturally-aspirated V8, and this creates 670hp and 625Nm. All this power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and it weighs in at almost half the weight of the Rivian - 1,685kg! A new one of these will have a price tag of around $120,000.
So they both cost around the same, but that’s about where the similarities between these end! So, which do you think will snatch the win? There’s only one way to find out for sure… LET’S RACE!
