Ford SuperVan 4.2: How Fast Can A 2000bhp Transit Go? | Stig Laps
Stig Laps are back!
That’s right, The Stig is once again roaming free at Dunsfold, and in this eight-part series we’ve gathered, well, eight cars of course, to set new timed Power Laps at the Top Gear Test Track. In the season premiere we put the road-legal lap record on the line, as the 1578bhp Koenigsegg Jesko Attack went chasing the Ferrari SF90 Stradale’s time of 1 min 11.3 seconds.
This time around, we’re going after the non-road-legal record, which was set by Renault’s R24 F1 car, way back in 2004 when it dipped below the magic minute. In the damp! In remains the fastest thing on four wheels around the Top Gear Test Track. Or does it…
Two decades on a man in a van, or rather The Stig in the Ford SuperVan 4.2, could beat it. This electric Transit features four motors, over 2000bhp, almost 2000kg downforce at 150mph, and was specially built to dominate Pikes Peak. More recently, it broke the lap record at Bathurst and won the 2004 Goodwood Hill Climb Shootout.
Over to Top Gear’s Editor-in-Chief, Jack Rix, and The Stig…
