Each year, millions of tons of vegetables grown here feed households across the continent from Germany to the UK. The white roofs of these greenhouses even cool the local climate, reflecting sunlight back into space. But behind this agricultural miracle lie hidden costs: plastic waste, migrant labor, and fragile water resources.
