Cher Reveals Suicidal Thoughts During Sonny Bono Marriage
In her new book, 'Cher: The Memoir, Part One,' the music icon reveals she considered jumping off a balcony during her 'loveless' marriage to Sonny Bono. The 78-year-old shares how 'deeply unhappy' she was and how loneliness nearly cost her life, multiple times. Cher and Sonny married in the 1960s, welcomed their son, Chaz, in 1969, and divorced in 1975. Despite their split, they continued hosting 'The Sonny & Cher Show' until 1977. Sonny later reflected on their relationship in his own 1991 memoir, 'And The Beat Goes On,' before he died in a skiing accident in 1998.
