Hi My name is Janefrances Nwachukwu
I have a background in computer science and began my career in banking, where I worked my way up through multiple roles, from customer service to operations lead. My responsibility was to resolve both technical and non-technical customer issues, while ensuring data privacy, confidentiality, and compliance. Over the years, I earned awards and commendations for service excellence. While I enjoyed helping customers, I wanted a new challenge—one where I could leverage my technical and problem-solving skills to contribute directly to IT goals. That’s when I started exploring cybersecurity.
Cybersecurity immediately resonated with me because it is about solving problems, research, and critical reasoning—things I’ve always enjoyed. Although I had already earned certifications like ISC² Certified in Cybersecurity and CompTIA Security+, I still lacked the confidence and practical skills to take on a cybersecurity role. That’s when I found Purdue University’s Cybersecurity Program in partnership with Simplilearn. I enrolled because I wanted structured, hands-on training that would bridge the gap between theory and practice.
The program exceeded my expectations. What stood out most was how the instructors broke down complex concepts into simple, real-world examples. They encouraged us to solve challenges ourselves, which really built my confidence. The labs, projects, and over 60+ practical exercises gave me hands-on exposure to tools and scenarios I would face in the industry.
