’I’m a Corrections Officer!’: Chaotic Moment ICE Detains Maine Law Enforcement Recruit
Bystander video shows the chaotic moment ICE detained a corrections officer recruit in Portland, Maine, on January 21st. “I’m a corrections officer!” the man could be heard yelling.
Cumberland County Sheriff Kevin Joyce called the arrest “bus league policing,” and said that the man was being held in Boston.
According to local outlet WGME, Joyce said the recruit detained by ICE was an immigrant with a “squeaky clean” record and had all the proper federal paperwork required to work in Maine through April 2029.
