How A Master Loctician Creates Vivid Locs

Tushiyah Yisrael is a master loctician and owner of The Loc Lounge in Raleigh, North Carolina. She specializes in loc extensions, reattachments, repairs, instant locs, color correction, and wicks. When creating vivid locs, she uses lower-volume developers for a long period of time to ensure the hair and curl stay healthy. Tushiyah will also mix in a protein to strengthen the hair during the lifting process. She tones the hair every step of the way to avoid having orange tones and aims to achieve a banana yellow to white hue. Then, a client's desired color is added, rewisted, and styled. Tushiyah pays attention to the scalp's pressure points and uses tensionless techniques when styling locs to tightly keep a loc in place without pulling on the hair. Tushiyah has been learning how to care for locs since she was 4 years old. Today, she continues to be an educator as a professional loctician in the hairstyling industry.
