The Psychology of Music — Serious Science
The psychology of music explores how music affects the human mind and emotions, aiming to understand why music has a powerful impact on individuals and societies. Researchers in this field ask questions about the emotional and cognitive processes involved in listening to, performing, and composing music. They investigate how music influences mood, memory, and even identity, examining why certain melodies evoke deep feelings or nostalgia.
This lecture collection aims to answer questions such as: How does music affect mental and physical health? How can music help improve various cognitive skills? Does music help us sleep? What is music therapy, and when is it used? How do we develop musical taste? Why does music get stuck in our heads?
The lectures were filmed from 2014 to 2020. If you have any questions or comments on the content, please email us at hello@serious-science.org.
