✎ Money is a tool that helps us live a good life and pay for important things like food and education. Earl Nightingale explains that money is like a harvest we get back for the work and service we provide to others. If you want to earn more money, you have to find ways to be more helpful and provide more value. A brain surgeon makes more than an elevator operator because their skill is much harder to replace and took more time to learn. To grow your income, you must focus on building your skills so that you can give more to the world every single day.
✎ Most people want to be rich but they never stop to pick a real goal or a specific number. You should decide on three things: how much you want to earn each year, how much you want to save, and how much you need for when you stop working. Write these goals on a card and carry it with you so you have a map for your future. Albert Schweitzer and Horace Latimer taught that money is a great servant but it should never become your master. When you set clear goals and have faith in yourself, you move into the top five percent of people who take control of their own lives.
✎ The world pays you for what you earn through service and not just what you wish for in your head. Goethe said that you must be something before you can do something. This follows the law of cause and effect where your rewards will always match the amount of help you give to others. If you are not happy with your pay, you must find new ways to use your mind and energy to bridge the gap. Do not try to get something for nothing because that plan never works for anyone. Focus on growing as a person and providing better service, and the wealth you seek will come to you at the right time.
