The Fender Mustang is definitely one of the unsung heroes of the guitar world. Used by the likes of Kurt Cobain, John Frusciante, and even John McLaughlin, it didn't go completely unnoticed, but has never gained mainstream popularity. It's short scale, with a quirky pickup switching system and a unique sound from the angle of the pickups, and I think it deserves more recognition than it gets.
