Lebanon elects first president since 2022
A two-year presidential vacancy has ended in Lebanon, as the parliament voted Lebanese army commander Joseph Aoun into office.

There has been no president in Lebanon since 2022, as parties could not agree on a new leader. Aoun's election comes 17 days before a ceasefire ends between Hezbollah and Israel.
