The Abandoned City of Telegraph Creek, Forgotten in the North.
So many of these old ghost town have been almost completely forgotten, but each of them seem to have one person that has been keeping the history together. For Telegraph Creek, that is Mickey. Mickey has been living there since 1975, but family ties have provided a much deeper look into the history of the old town. Mickey has a privately owned museum that has a collection of local artifacts, photos and documents dating back to the beginning of the town. The collection started with his father in law, and was passed on to Mickey, and I hope that his children will continue to care for it and add to it.
I have always loved exploring ghost towns, and Telegraph Creek is a real treat. Much of the old city is still standing, and what is gone is easily mapped out just walking the old roads. The buildings are in remarkably good condition given the amount of time they have sat abandoned, but due to their remoteness, vandalism is much less of a concern. Some of these properties are still privately owned, so if you're going for an adventure here, please be respectful.
