Creation of sexually explicit deepfakes to become a crime
Creating sexually explicit "deep fake" images will become a criminal offence under new laws aimed at protecting women and girls.
The proliferation of the often hyper-realistic images has grown at an alarming rate, causing devastating harm to victims - something Channel 4 News has reported on extensively.
The new offence will mean perpetrators could be charged for both creating and sharing the images.
