When niVanuatu doctors finally told her there was nothing more they could do for Nikki, their family crowdfunded nearly AUD $100,000 to fly to India for treatment, where they immediately diagnosed her with leukaemia, but by then it was too late.
Nikki's story highlights the niVanuatu health system's many failings and inefficiencies, including staff shortages and bureaucratic bottlenecks.
