Two Years Later: Was it Worth the Wait?
I attended the RISC-V Summit back in December of 2022. Two things happened, 1) Intel donated $1 Billion to RISC-V International to promote development on Intel's Foundrys and 2) SiFive announced they were building a RISC-V workstation jointly with Intel. The system was code named "Horse Creek" and was slated to be made available in the Summer of 2023. Well I get an email from SiFive almost a week ago that said, "Hey, you signed up to be notified when the P550 is released...".
I ordered one of the 100 early access machines, thinking oh this will be awhile, but the next day I get a notice, it is shipping, and it arrived last Friday.
Welcome to the progress report.
