AIMS: Catherine Success Story
Meet Catherine, a graduate of the AIMS ‘AI for Science’ Master’s program, who is generating children's stories in African languages using multilingual language models to help strengthen literacy. Catherine’s research is made possible by the Google DeepMind Scholarship, which helps talented students from underrepresented groups and regions access opportunities in AI.
At Google DeepMind, we believe that increasing diversity in AI means breaking down barriers to education and ensuring equitable access to training. Our funding helps support AI talent from across the pipeline, from undergraduate students to postgraduates and early-career postdocs, with an international and inclusive approach.
We are empowering the next generation of AI leaders. Our commitment to advancing AI education includes a $4.5M grant to launch the AI for Science Master’s program at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), building AI research talent across Africa.
