Andrea Rossi: Why M&G’s CEO Believes Europe’s Best Days Are Ahead
Andrea Rossi, CEO of global investment manager M&G, has a background as diverse as his career.
A Frenchman with a Swedish mother and Italian father, now based in London, Rossi credits his pan-European roots for shaping his adaptability and leadership style.
“I knew I was always going to work in Europe, and I wanted to work in Europe. I believe in Europe, and I want Europe to succeed,” Rossi said to CNBC’s Steve Sedgwick on the “Executive Decisions” podcast.
After earning his degree in Rome and an MBA from INSEAD, Rossi began his career at GE in north London, where he embraced Six Sigma principles—a methodology he still champions today.
“I always look from a client's perspective, from a process perspective, and then making sure we have the right people in order to execute,” he said.
From GE, Rossi moved to AXA, where he spent two decades before his entrepreneurial spirit led him to launch his own firm just before the COVID pandemic.
“I feel like an entrepreneur. Whatever role I've been, I always felt as if I was opening the company. When I worked for GE Lighting, I used to go to hotel rooms and check all the light bulbs just to make sure they were GE, and if they were not GE, I would turn them off and say that they didn't work,” Rossi reflected.
