Why Lachlan Murdoch is at the centre of succession feud tearing his family apart | Australian Story

Lachlan Murdoch runs Fox News and is head of one of the most powerful media companies in the world, but few Americans would recognise the enigmatic mogul if they ran into him in the street. Unlike his famous father Rupert, Lachlan rarely gives interviews and avoids the limelight.
That veil of privacy was lifted when news broke of a bitter dispute between the Murdoch siblings over who would run the family empire following Rupert Murdoch’s death. Echoes of the television drama Succession proved irresistible to headline writers around the world.
Journalist Paddy Manning is a leading authority on the family and in this feature-length documentary he explores the rise of Lachlan Murdoch and the roots of the dispute that ended up in a courtroom in Nevada, USA. It includes interviews with billionaire businessman James Packer, New York Times journalist Jim Rutenberg, former Australian prime minister Malcolm Turnbull and CNN media reporter Brian Stelter.
