Israel aid worker killings, & Simon Birmingham MP | Insiders | ABC News In-depth
00:00 Welcome to Insiders with David Speers,
00:39 The World Central Kitchen workers had done everything by the book.
Coordinating movements with the Israeli Defence Force – plastering logos all over their 3 vehicles. And still their convoy was struck – precisely and fatally. 7 people were killed – including Australian aid worker Zomi Frankcom. According to its investigation – the Israeli Defence Force says officers tracking the convoy thought they were Hamas vehicles. Critical information didn’t go down the chain of command. And the logos - they say - weren’t visible at night. Two officers have been removed from their posts and three commanders reprimanded. A necessary first step says Foreign Minister Penny Wong – but not enough.
