Bruce Lehrmann's defamation case against Network Ten fails | 7.30

Bruce Lehrmann avoided the verdict of a jury on whether or not he was guilty of rape due to juror misconduct that ended his 2022 criminal trial. But a civil court has found on the balance of probabilities that he did rape Brittany Higgins on that fateful night in Parliament House in 2019.
The irony is that Lehrmann brought this finding on himself by suing Network 10 and journalist Lisa Wilkinson for defamation. As the judge pithily observed, "Having escaped the lion's den, Mr Lehrmann made the mistake of coming back for his hat." Jason Om was in court.
