The story behind the removal of a controversial sculpture — and why people want her back | Compass

In her brief residency in East Sydney, the sculpture of mythical sex worker Joy was both celebrated and attacked. Eventually, she was removed but never forgotten.
Three decades later, a group of supporters are on a mission to have Joy cast in bronze and brought home. This is the story of a community fighting to reclaim a piece of history and the women at the heart of it.
