Donald Trump trial: day one of historic Stormy Daniels court case

Twelve Americans will decide whether Donald Trump falsified business records to hide hush money to the former porn star Stormy Daniels, as has been alleged.

Today jury selection began in a grim block in Manhattan in the first of four trials facing the former president.
He denies the charges and calls the case political persecution.
But what does the American public make of it all - could a convicted criminal really be elected to the White House in November?
