Israel vows to ‘exact a price’ as Iran launches first ever direct attack
For almost two weeks Iran had been warning it would retaliate for the consulate attack, which killed several commanders and officers. But when it came, the damage was minimal, with one air base hit in southern Israel and only one casualty reported; a young Bedouin girl seriously injured by shrapnel.
It's the first time Iran has launched a direct attack on Israel, though drones and missiles were also fired from Iraq, Syria and Yemen.
Israel says 99 per cent were shot down with help from US ships and aircraft, British and French jets, and Jordan - which intercepted those flying through its airspace.
