Xbox Announces 'Significant' Restructure Starting With 3,200 Layoffs - IGN Daily Fix
In today's Daily Fix:
Xbox boss Asha Sharma sent an email to employees announcing a 'significant' restructuring of the company, citing losing "64 cents for every dollar invested" in their studios in an average year. Unfortunately 3,200 employees will be laid off, starting with 1,600 today and the rest to happen throughout Fiscal year 2027. Microsoft-owned studioss Double Fine and Compulsion Games will become independent studios, while others such as Ninja Theory and Undead Labs "have entered terms to join new ownership." Arkane Studios' management will enter into consultation with its workers council on next steps. No publicly-announced games are said to be cancelled as part of the reductions in workforce. In other news, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has been blocked in 132 countries, likely due to Sony's PSN requirements, and PSN being blocked in specific territories. And finally, DC Studios' Supergirl has crossed $100 million at the global box office in its second week, and will likely not recoup its reported $170 million production budget (which does not include the massive marketing spend).
