Ford Built a Secret 1966 Bronco Concept… And It Has No Doors! | Jay Leno's Garage
Ford's chief designer for the Bronco, Rob Gilardi, stopped by the garage to show off something incredibly special: the Bronco Roadster Concept. Built to celebrate 60 years of the iconic 4x4, this thing strips away the big tires, winches, and even the doors to get right back to the pure simplicity of the original 1966 U13 Roadster.
It's got retro wheels, original vintage silver vinyl seats pulled right off an original 1966 roll found in storage, and a 7-speed manual with a crawler gear—all built over modern chassis underpinnings with a peppy 300-horsepower base turbo engine.
Ford wants to know what real people think of this throwback design. Check out the episode, see how it handles on the road, and let us know your thoughts in the comments below: Should Ford actually build something like this?
