Welcome to the beautiful Thunderhill Raceway, Northern California's home for grassroots motorsports! In this episode, we use the 3-mile track's level front straight to test three of the quickest supercars ever produced:
The new Lamborghini Temerario has everything it needs to be one of the quickest internal-combustion cars in history: 907-hp from its 10,000-rpm hybrid flat-plane crank V-8, all-wheel drive, and an aggressive launch control.
How will it fare against the reigning entry-level champion from Europe, the Ferrari 296 GTS. And the quickest McLaren sports-car, the 765LT?
And how does it do on our leaderboard against the mighty 1064-hp Corvette ZR1? Or the reigning combustion champs, the 1500-hp Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport and 1250--hp Corvette ZR1X?
We drag race the three cars using scientifically obtained instrumented-testing methods, on regular (non-prepped) asphalt — in both full race mode, and also full EV mode. The Ferrari and Lamborghini can both run on electricity alone; why wouldn't we test that?
With our award-winning slow-motion technique, veteran automotive journalist hosts the video — and explains to you how and why each car finished where it did. This is more than just a drag race, it's a science lesson — and it's equal parts entertaining, too!
