Inside the Tortured LEGO Mind
This is Kristal's third and final installment in her series of head sculptures that look inside different aspects of the human mind.
In this model she looks inside the tortured mind, with a figure representing the inner self and a monster representing all the things that fill them with fear, anxiety or grief.
In Kristal's own words: Obviously the subject here is a lot darker than the other sculptures, but if you look carefully, you'll see the faces are identical. This didn’t just happen because I’m a lazy builder. I wanted this simple, brick-built, androgynous style to show that these are three aspects of any person’s mind. We all have some of that creative mind in us, and some of that calculating, logical side. And few of us make it through life without experiencing anxiety, depression, grief or trauma.
