Dr. William Anderson, Physician and Civil Rights Leader, Dies at 98

Dr. William Anderson, the Georgia doctor and World War II veteran who stepped out of his office to lead a pivotal movement in the fight for civil rights, has died at 98. As a Black doctor in 1961 in Albany, Georgia, Anderson was not allowed to practice in local hospitals because of his race. He would go on to became a leader of the Albany movement, which attracted the support of the NAACP and Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday TODAY’s Willie Geist remembers a life well lived.
