Midjourney v5 has been released and despite some initial hickups during the ramp of phase, it's already taken the world by storm.
The level of realism is absolutely mind-blowing and it's clear that the Midjourney team has built this initial release of v5 with prompting experts in mind.
The team has officially stated that this is an early Alpha release that is effectively in "Pro Mode", so some people may find it harder to prompt at first and images are "unopinionated".
They have also stated that the final release will be tuned towards more balance between realism and stylization, however, you will be able to turn it off as well (effectively giving you the same "professional mode" you how now).
Here are Midjourney v5's key features:
- Higher resolution images: Default resolution is now 1024x1024 versus 512x512 in previous versions.
- Quality: The --quality parameter is finally back. Many didn't realize that it was gone, but you can not use --q 2 again.
- Wider range of styles: More artistic styles have been introduced for users to explore and experiment with.
- Improved image prompts: Image prompts now give you better and more creative results.
- Better landscapes and architecture: Improved rendering, making it easier to create environments.
- Multi-Prompts: More effective combining of ideas and styles.
- Tiling: Seamless textures and patterns are back in v5!
- Wide Aspect Ratios: There seem to be almost no limits on aspect ratios now.
- Image Weight: Image prompts support the --iw parameter again, allowing you to control its influence on the image.
- Less Unwated Text: You are far less likely to see random text artefacts spread throughout your images.
