Netanyahu dismisses calls for restraint, saying ‘Israel will defend itself’
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday stated that there are proposals and advice from friendly countries for an attack against Iran, which he appreciated, and also said that they will "make their own decisions."
Netanyahu, speaking at the opening of a government session in Jerusalem, shared that he came to this meeting from a meeting with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and British Foreign Secretary David Cameron, who are visiting his country.
Expressing gratitude to the "friendly countries that contribute to Israel's defense with their statements and actions," Netanyahu said, "(Friendly countries) are making many proposals and recommendations to us. I appreciate them, but I must make it clear. We will make our own decisions, and the state of Israel will do everything to protect itself."
Iran on Saturday launched an airborne attack on Israel in retaliation for an April 1 airstrike on its diplomatic compound in the Syrian capital. It reportedly fired more than 300 drones and missiles, with almost all intercepted by the air defense systems of Israel and its allies – the US, France and the UK.
