Inside Australia's broken state care system, and the fight to fix it | Compass
For generations, Australia has responded to children at risk by trying to remove them from harm. Yet for many young people, separation from family is followed by another profound loss: the loss of relationships that last.
The Way We Care follows Emily and Lachlan, whose lives have been shaped by out-of-home care, as they work alongside an emerging community of carers, practitioners and advocates who dare to imagine a different future. Through lived experience, relational practice and community leadership, the documentary explores what becomes possible when connection, relationships and belonging are placed at the heart of how we care for children.
