30 minutes of Real musical practice (3 step system) with mistakes!
In today's vast social media landscape, it's easy to be dazzled by the error-free musical performances we encounter, that can give the perception that perfection is easily achieved.
Invariably though, these flawless performances are the product of countless hours of dedicated prior previous preparation, over a substantial sustained time period.
This video hopes to provide the student with a behind-the-scenes look at some of the practice process Jazzduets goes through before recording material that is published,
The intention is to document and demonstrate that results are not instantaneous,
and require time, patience and repetition.
If you feel frustrated by your progress, know that you are not alone.

STEP 1 is slow and rubato , so a relaxation of strict, rigid time.
Playing the phrases at an initial speed that is comfortable and
which allows you to execute the notes without errors.
The great benefit of this is that it 1) gives you the time to listen to the pitches,
and experience how they relate to the harmony,
2) allows you the time to focus on your sound - the timbre of your instrument
There is no time limit to this step as it depends on your level.
Only You will know when you are feeling comfortable and relaxed.
Step 2 - is still slow but now with metronome.
This will give you the discipline of a pulse to subscribe to.
Something concrete as well to gauge your progress and learning,
to really understand what keys, ranges, note movements need special attention.
Step 3 is the full performance speed- this is the real acid test, the unchangeable target,
that might take us weeks or months to arrive at.
