She survived the horrors of Russia’s invasion, now she’s advocating for peace | Compass
Ukrainian vet, Maria Mykytiuk, lived a fulfilling life until Russia invaded her home of Bucha in 2022.
What followed was unimaginable. Maria was forced to choose between accompanying her children to safety or remaining in Bucha to treat citizens and animals alike.
She survived beatings, sexual violence and the death of her best friend. Now Maria is safe in Australia and using her voice to help Ukraine.
Despite all that she’s been through, she believes love and kindness can bring peace.
