This year, the team surprised Jatee Kearsley, the owner and pastry chef of Je T’aime Patisserie in Brooklyn. After putting herself through culinary school, Kearsley opened her Bed-Stuy bakery to support underserved communities—even accepting food stamps to keep her goods accessible. Now, the Yankees are boosting her dream with a $20,000 check and exclusive mentorship from their hospitality staff. TODAY’s Laura Jarrett shares her story.
