Kyoto is usually at the top of most people's travel bucket lists when visiting Japan and it's understandable why. Kyoto is a former capital of Japan that is incredibly rich with history and culture, as well as so many beautiful natural attractions. While cherry blossom season is the most popular season to visit in, I would personally recommend coming in the summer or fall when the crowds tend to be less, but everything is still very lush. Kyoto is easily accessible if you're staying in the Kansai region or a quick 3hr shinkansen ride away from Tokyo. Because there are just so many attractions in the area, I narrowed down an ultimate guide of what I would consider some of the most important places to visit in Kyoto.
