As U.S. forces withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021, the New York Times undertook the task of bringing 124 people associated with the company out of Kabul to start new lives in America. Two of them, Mursal and Marwa Rahim, join TODAY to detail fleeing the Taliban and share an update five years after leaving their home behind. They are joined by NBC editorial president Rebecca Blumenstein, who was the Times' deputy managing editor at the time, and journalist Diana Kapp who celebrate the sisters' tenacity and grit in the new book “The Last Free Women: A Daring Escape from Afghanistan and Coming of Age in America.”
